Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 03, 2026
At Schattenwachter, we are committed to protecting your privacy and the data of the individuals you monitor. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you use our website (schattenwachter.com) and Schattenwachter monitoring software (the “App” or “Service”).
By accessing our website or using our Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use our Service.
1. Our Services and Age Restrictions
Schattenwachter is a parental control and device monitoring solution intended solely for use by parents or legal guardians (“Parents”) to supervise the online activity of their own children under their direct care.
The Service is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent, in line with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Children interact with the App only through devices linked to a Parent’s account.
If we discover that we have collected data from a child under 13 without proper consent, we will delete it immediately. Parents must confirm they are the legal guardian of the monitored child and consent to data collection.
2. Information We Collect
From Parents (Account Holders):
- Contact details: Name, email address, phone number
- Billing information (processed securely via third-party providers)
- Account credentials and usage data
From Monitored Devices (Children’s Data): We collect only the data necessary for core monitoring features, such as:
- Device and usage information (device ID, IP address, app usage, browsing history, screen time)
- Approximate location data (if enabled by the Parent for safety features)
- Communication metadata (call/text logs, timestamps, contacts – full content is not stored unless flagged)
- Installed apps and activity summaries
We do not collect sensitive data such as ethnicity, religious beliefs, health information, or biometrics. We do not use children’s data for advertising or profiling.
Website Data: We may collect anonymized analytics data (e.g., via cookies and tools like Google Analytics): IP address, browser type, pages visited.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the monitoring Service (activity reports, alerts, parental controls)
- To communicate with you (support, updates, billing)
- To process payments securely
- To comply with legal obligations
We do not sell personal data. Children’s data is used exclusively to deliver the Service to the Parent.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We share data only in limited cases:
- With trusted service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, payment processors) bound by strict confidentiality and data protection agreements
- In the event of a business transfer (merger/acquisition), with continued protection under this policy
We do not share children’s personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard safeguards:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest (AES-256)
- Access controls and multi-factor authentication where applicable
- Regular security audits
No system is 100% secure. Parents are responsible for keeping their account credentials confidential.
6. Data Retention
We retain data only as long as necessary:
- Account and billing data: for the duration of the subscription plus a reasonable period for legal/financial purposes
- Anonymized analytics: up to 2 years
You may request deletion of your data at any time (see Section 8).
7. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Our website uses essential cookies for functionality and analytics cookies for performance improvement. You can manage preferences through your browser or our cookie consent tool. Disabling cookies may affect site functionality.
8. Your Rights (Parents)
As the account holder, you have control over the data:
- Access, review, or download the collected data
- Correct inaccuracies
- Delete specific logs or unlink devices (triggering data deletion)
- Withdraw consent and stop further collection (by uninstalling or disabling features)
To exercise these rights, log into your dashboard or contact us at support@schattenwachter.com. We respond to verified requests within 10–30 days, free of charge (subject to applicable law, e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
9. International Data Transfers
Our servers are primarily located in [specify if known, e.g., the EU / United States]. If data is transferred internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses to ensure protection.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will post the revised version on our website with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
